FRISCO -- One of the more popular questions for Cowboys players and coaches the last few weeks is how the franchise built one of the league's top defenses.
Well, a proper answer would have to include one of the early architects in constructing the NFL's fourth-ranked defense, and he'll be on the opposite sideline Sunday when Dallas plays at Indianapolis.
Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus spent his previous seven seasons in Dallas as the Cowboys' linebackers coach and -- in 2016 and 2017 -- the club's defensive passing game coordinator as well.
Like new secondary coach and passing game coordinator Kris Richard this season, Eberflus also handled a lot of the Cowboys' defensive play-calling last year under coordinator Rod Marinelli.
