Following the 2006 NFL Draft, the Cowboys signed a pair of undrafted free agent wide receivers that ended up making Dallas’ 53-man roster.
Miles Austin, a two-time Pro Bowler, went on to have a pair of 1,000-yard seasons. Sam Hurd ended up playing five seasons with the Cowboys.
Stephen Jones said Wednesday that this year’s group reminds him of that 2006 class.
“We put a big priority on receivers when we went into this,” the Cowboys executive vice president said during a conference call with season-ticket holders. “We were in the business to draft one if the right guy showed up.
