Cowboys coach Jason Garrett returns to his QB roots

Backup quarterback Brandon Weeden has been held out of practice the past two days as he recovers from a concussion suffered in the loss to San Francisco.

To ease the load on the other three quarterbacks, head coach Jason Garrett has stepped in to throw in some of the one-on-one drills.

“Arm’s doing OK,’’ said Garrett, who spent 11 years in the league as a backup quarterback. “I love it. I love playing football.

“(Tony) Romo was on me because I wasn’t really taking a full drop. I said, Not only do I have arm limitations, I have foot limitations too so I’ve got to give myself some advantage.
