OXNARD, Calif. — Brandon Carr walked off the field Thursday and cracked a beatific smile.
“I am just blessed to see Year No. 8, here on the field with these guys,” he said.
It was a exactly a year ago that Carr’s mother, Kathy, lost a battle with cancer. She was 59.
Carr missed the first 18 days of training camp in 2014 as he dealt with a family tragedy that seemed to affect the cornerback in the months that followed. The cornerback struggled during the first half of the season, and he didn’t play at a high level until the final stretch.
