Cowboys address secondary depth with signing of safety Robert Blanton

Dallas Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones indicated last month that the team would add a safety off the free-agent market, part of its "method to the madness" in the offseason.

That step in the plan appears to have come to fruition Thursday.

Dallas has signed veteran safety Robert Blanton to a one-year deal, a source told SportsDay's Jon Machota. Blanton's agent, Jason Bernstein, first announced the signing on Twitter.
