FRISCO, Texas – The Cowboys have added depth to a position of need a week before the draft, signing five-year veteran safety Robert Blanton.
A fifth-round pick by Minnesota in 2012, Blanton played four years with the Vikings, making 17 starts. He had 147 tackles, 5 pass breakups and an interception.
Blanton signed with the Buffalo Bills last year and played 10 games (two starts) in 2016, producing 27 tackles.
Safety became a thin position in March when starting strong safety Barry Church and his primary backup J.J. Wilcox signed free agent deals with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, respectively.
