First Round: RB Ezekiel Elliott, Ohio State
The Cowboys used the highest draft pick on a running back since selecting Tony Dorsett with the No. 2 pick in 1977.
Elliott make the front office look brilliant in his rookie season, on the way to a Pro Bowl berth. league rushing title and 13-3 regular-season record. His sophomore season is one he continues to work to put behind him after he missed six games to an NFL suspension. His legal fight against the discipline dominated the season. Elliott returned to form in 2018, winning his second rushing crown in three seasons, able to handle the heavy workload asked of him by the Cowboys and leading the team in receptions.
