ARLINGTON — Some notable Cowboys players saw some action in the final preseason game, which is usually reserved for players who either have no future with the team or are confined to at the margins of the roster. Tight end Gavin Escobar, ballyhooed rookie free agent La’el Collins and even first-round pick Byron Jones all started and saw extensive action.
So did veteran defensive tackle Terrell McClain and seventh-year linebacker Jasper Brinkley.
There is no doubt Escobar, Collins and Jones will make the team. With Jason Witten and James Hanna out, the Cowboys only had two tight ends available Thursday.
