The Dallas Cowboys considered signing Brandon Carr to a short-term extension in a bid to lower his $13.8 million salary-cap figure for 2016. That he would accept a straight cut in pay without future years is beneficial to the Cowboys and can be beneficial to the cornerback.
So why would Carr accept such a deal?
The top reason might be the fact he doesn’t want to leave and start over at this point in the offseason.
Another reason: If he has a good 2016 season, he will have a chance to hit the open market and a number of teams will have large amounts of salary-cap space.
