CHICAGO -- A wretched overtime loss Sunday did considerable damage to the Chicago Bears' faint playoff hopes.
Coach John Fox’s team now sits at No. 11 in the NFC playoff picture, the lowest-ranked 5-7 team behind the Eagles and Giants.
Aside from their overall win-loss record, the Bears also suffer from a lack of conference wins. Chicago is just 2-6 versus fellow NFC teams, the second-worst conference record after the last-place Cowboys (2-7).
It’s virtually impossible to reach the postseason by only winning games against AFC teams.
Even if the Bears run the table and finish 9-7, there is little hope of Fox reaching the playoffs in his first year on the job.
