Question: Why is identifying the middle linebacker a new thing for QBs? Growing up, I never saw Bradshaw, Montana, Aikman or Laufenberg do it. What changed?
Babe Laufenberg: Ha. Maybe only time I have ever seen Bradshaw, Montana, Aikman and Laufenberg in the same sentence! Maybe Cliff Clavin if he posed the Jeopardy question, “who are the 4 people who have never been in my kitchen?” But many times the “mike” linebacker they are identifying isn’t even a linebacker at all.
