IRVING, Texas – On Wednesday, ESPN Steelers reporter Jeremy Fowler chronicled the Cleveland Browns’ decision to pass on Ben Roethlisberger with the sixth pick of the 2004 NFL draft. It was a fascinating look back at a decision that has to haunt the Browns as they continue to look for a quarterback this many years later to lead their franchise.
What stuck with me was that people in the decision-making process remember what they want to remember. Carmen Policy pointed the finger at coach Butch Davis for not picking Roethlisberger. Davis talked about the financial considerations because of what the Browns had paid Tim Couch and the signing of Jeff Garcia.
