As expected, Kellen Moore is back with the Dallas Cowboys.

The team announced it had re-signed the quarterback on Tuesday afternoon. Moore takes the roster spot of tight end Rico Gathers, who has been moved to injured reserve with a concussion.

Moore, 28, has spent the past three seasons with the Cowboys. He played in three games, including two starts, to end the 2015 season. He missed last season with a broken ankle.

Moore is expected to compete with Cooper Rush to be Dak Prescott’s backup this week in practice. Moore has NFL experience, but Rush has been more impressive in the preseason.
