Last year, we brought you the story of Dr. Jen Welter, the first woman to play running back in a men’s professional football game.
Welter, 36 at the time, suited up and carried the ball three times for the Allen-based Texas Revolution of the Indoor Football League. In the recently completed 2015 season, the Revolution played in the Champions Indoor Football League and Welter served as linebackers and special teams coach, making her the first woman to coach in a men’s professional football league.
On Monday, Arizona Cardinals coach Bruce Arians told the Arizona Republic that Welter will help coach inside linebackers during training camp as part of the franchise’s new Bill Bidwill Coaching Fellowship.
