Alex Ovechkin's 895th goal joins list of sports' most unbreakable records

Related Topics: Alexander Ovechkin, Emmitt Smith

With his record-breaking 895th tally, Alex Ovechkin stands alone atop the NHL career goals list.

The Washington Capitals star had been chasing Wayne Gretzky's all-time mark for some time, and on Sunday, the Great 8 finally surpassed the Great One. Of Ovechkin's active counterparts, nobody comes especially close to the winger's new record total -- the next closest currently active player is Sidney Crosby, who sits at 622 goals at 37 years of age.

That got us thinking: What are some other sports records that might be unbreakable? Whether it's the evolution of the game or just the sheer greatness of those who set them, some marks feel downright untouchable.
