The UIL football state championship games won’t be played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington in December for a fifth consecutive year unless the UIL would be willing to alter its schedule.
When the NFL announced its schedules two weeks ago, the Cowboys received a Saturday night home game in Week 15 on Dec. 19 against the New York Jets. The UIL’s schedule has its 11-man state title games from Dec. 17-19, with three games (including both 6A finals) scheduled on Dec. 19.
The conflict surprised UIL officials. The UIL holds a one-year extension option with its existing agreement with AT&T Stadium.
