The Dallas Cowboys have been hit hard by injuries this season and they could be without two more starters Saturday night against the New York Jets. LB Rolando McClain is out with a concussion and CB Morris Claiborne is doubtful with an injured hamstring.
Claiborne had struggled mightily entering this season, but has played fairly well this year. He's broken up seven passes this year with 37 tackles. He doesn't have any interceptions, but has shut down opposing wide receivers more often than not.
Claiborne's injury makes the Cowboys' decision to release CB Tyler Patmon earlier this week even more questionable. Without Claibone, the Cowboys are down to Byron Jones, Brandon Carr and Deji Olatoye, who has yet to see any meaningful snaps this season. The team might use safety Jeff Heath as a nickel back.
McClain missed the first four games with a suspension, but has still posted solid numbers. He's racked up 63 tackles, a sack and a pick this season. He's third on the team in tackles, behind LB Sean Lee and S Barry Church.
With McClain out, the Cowboys could slide Lee to middle linebacker. The team would then give the start at weakside linebacker to Damien Wilson. Andrew Gachkar is the backup at MLB and could start if the team wants to keep Lee on the outside.
