The Dallas Cowboys have Super Bowl aspirations this season after injuries derailed them in 2015. However, for that to happen, they're going to need to have some lesser known players step up and become stars. Here are three players that could have a breakout season this year:
RB Ezekiel Elliott
It may be cheating by putting a rookie on this list, but there's no doubt Elliott is going to be a star this season. An ideal combination of speed and power, Elliott has never been brought down by an arm tackle and was never caught from behind at the college level. His excellent vision allows him to find the hole, and he has the patience to find the perfect one. Plus, he's already an elite pass blocker and a superb receiver out of the backfield. Add in Dallas' dominant offensive line, and Elliott will be nothing but successful.
FS Byron Jones
Jones is a super athlete that has the cover skills of a cornerback, but cemented himself as a starting safety in his rookie season. He racked up 66 tackles and deflected eight passes while still learning the scheme - but he really stepped his game up at the end of the season. Dallas may rotate him between safety and cornerback this year, and he'll be successful where ever he plays.
DE Randy Gregory
Gregory is suspended for the first four games of the season after failing a drug test, but I expect him to be a dominant force. He had a very limited role on the Cowboys last season as he bulked up and learned the system. Now, he's ready to showcase his speed and elite pass-rushing skills as a starter once he returns from the suspension.
