The NFL Draft is approaching quickly, and the first round will start in less than two weeks. We've already put together a full first round mock draft, and now we have a three round mock just for the Dallas Cowboys.
The Cowboys are coming off a rough season thanks to injuries to QB Tony Romo and have needs at multiple positions. The Cowboys often wheel and deal, so don't be surprised if that happens this year. Defense should be the team's main area of focus this year. With that in mind, here is the Cowboys' 3 Round 2016 NFL Mock Draft.
Round 1, Pick No. 4: Joey Bosa, DE, Ohio State
The Cowboys would love to land DB Jalen Ramsey, but it looks like he won't be on the board. In that case, the Cowboys settle for Ohio State DE Joey Bosa. It fills a major need at DE, where only DeMarcus Lawrence is a safe bet. Bosa won't be a superstar, but he'll be a starting DE for years.
Round 2, Pick No. 34: Kendall Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech
Fuller has first round talent, although he struggled this year before getting hurt. That knee injury could drop him down out of the first round. If that happens, Dallas could very well pull the trigger. They badly need CB and Fuller has potential.
Round 3, Pick No. 67: Jaylon Smith, LB, Notre Dame
Smith could go well before this or he could go well after. His range is all over the place because of nerve damage in his knee. That worries NFL teams, and medical re-checks in a few weeks could make or break his draft stock. But Dallas might end up pulling the trigger for a few reasons. They've proven they are willing to take injured players, such as Sean Lee and Bruce Carter. Smith's older brother Rod also happens to be a RB for the Cowboys.
Finally, the doctor who performed Smith's surgery is actually the Cowboys' head physician. No team will have a better idea on the status of Smith's knee than Dallas. Smith is a Top 5 talent, and if he can get healthy, he'll be a great LB. The Cowboys could let him sit for a year before starting next year.
