The Dallas Cowboys have many different directions they could go with the No. 28 overall pick in the NFL Draft, with many projecting them to select a defensive player.
However, Jared Dubin of CBS Sports thinks the Cowboys will go the other way and select Miami tight end David Njoku:
The Cowboys have needs all over their defense. You know this, I know this, But they’ve also shown they are not at all afraid of just taking the best guy on the board, and Njoku has a chance to be special. Dallas loves two tight end sets anyway, and Jason Witten is entering the final year of his deal (and maybe his career). You could do a whole lot worse than having Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, Dez Bryant, Njoku and that offensive line for the next 5-10 years.
Finding an eventual replacement for Witten is something the Cowboys will have to address sooner rather than later, as has admitted that he has contemplated retirement each of the last few offseasons.
Njoku is a fast-rising prospect due to his physical skill set and is expected to be the second tight end taken behind Alabama's O.J. Howard. At the combine, he measured in a 6-foot-4 and 246 lbs. while running a 4.64 40-yard dash and posting a 37.5 inch vertical leap.
He caught 43 passes for 698 yards and eight touchdowns in 12 games for Miami last season.
