The Dallas Cowboys are expected to release Tony Romo instead of training him, and if that happens, ESPN's Ed Werder reports that his first choice is to sign with the Houston Texans.

Houston is thought to be looking for a quarterback after Brock Osweiler proved to be a disaster this year. The Texans gave him a four-year, $72 million deal with $37 million fully guaranteed, so they already have a lot of money devoted to the quarterback position. Therefore, it's unlikely they can get into a bidding war for Romo's services.
Romo has said that he wants to go somewhere he can start, and the Texans and Denver Broncos emerged as the favorites to land him. However, Romo is more intrigued by staying in state of Texas.
He also wants to play for a championship contender, which Houston would be with him on the roster. They already have one of the best defenses in the league, a top-tier wide receiver in DeAndre Hopkins and reliable running back in Lamar Miller.
Romo played just one drive this season, completing 3/4 passes for 29 yards and a touchdown. In his last full season in 2014, Romo through for 3,705 yards with 34 touchdowns and just nine interceptions.
