Dallas Cowboys news today isn’t all positive. Sean Lee is set to miss more time than originally hoped with his injury as the Cowboys continue to get hit hard by injuries. On the bright side, Jourdan Lewis appears likely to return to the Cowboys this week. Cowboys Report host Tom Downey has the latest Cowboys rumors and news on today’s show.
Sean Lee is set to miss about 6 weeks after undergoing sports hernia surgery. That puts him in line for a mid-October return, which isn’t ideal with Leighton Vander Esch set to miss 6-8 weeks with a broken collarbone. That’s why the Cowboys added LB Rashad Smith from the Bears’ practice squad. The other 53-man roster addition was snagging OT Alex Light from the Cardinals’ practice squad and making Brandon Carr a 53-man roster player full-time.

The Cowboys practice squad has also undergone some tweaks, adding DBs Rashard Robinson and Steven Parker while cutting S Luther Kirk. The Cowboys also protected four players, per NFL rules, from being signed: LB Francis Bernard, DE Ron'Dell Carter, TE Cole Hikutini, and OT Eric Smith.
Cowboys rumors had focused on Randy Gregory for months before his reinstatement. Now he’s working his way back and was actually at Cowboys practice today. So was Jourdan Lewis, who appears set to play in Week 2 against the Falcons.
