The Dallas Cowboys were clearly the best team in the NFC all season, going 13-3 while clinching the conference's top seed in the playoffs.
However, with them set to face the red-hot Green Bay Packers - winners of seven games in a row - owner Jerry Jones is being cautiously optimistic in his approach to the game.
“If we think we’re going to play the Green Bay team we played in the sixth game, we’re foolish,” Jones told USA TODAY Sports. “Green Bay’s helped us out. We’re going against the hottest team. So in terms of any overconfidence issue, Green Bay has thwarted that train of thought. Everybody in here knows it’s a different dynamic.
“Up until right now, this year I’ve watched the success unfold in amazement. But I’ve not thought until now that any time we walked out there it was do or die. So this is a lot different. You really do read the negative to yourself. If we don’t win, what am I going to do next Tuesday? What am I going to be doing next Wednesday?”
Dallas beat the Packers, 30-16, in Week 6 of the regular season. That was the start of a stretch in with Green Bay lost five of six games, and in the middle of the Cowboys' 11-game win streak.
