NFL Free Agency starts on March 9th, and the next few days will feature several Dallas Cowboys rumors. While free agency doesn't officially start until Wednesday, the league has "legal tampering" days leading up to the start of the new team year, meaning teams can discuss contracts with any player - although a deal can't be signed until Wednesday. With that in mind, here are a few of the more interesting rumors and news tidbits on the Cowboys.
Lamar Miller to Cowboys?
The Dolphins have decided to let starting running back Lamar Miller hit the open market and do not plan to re-sign him, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel's Omar Kelly, after the two sides could not agree to a contract. Miller is asking for about $8 million per year, while the Dolphins were only offering $5-6 million. The Cowboys, Colts, and Texans are the frontrunners to sign Miller, according to the Palm Beach Post.
Could Jason Hatcher return to the Cowboys?
Washington recently released defensive tackle Jason Hatcher, and with the Cowboys' need at the position, he is someone they're looking at signing on the open market. Via SB Nation's Ryan Ratty:
Hatcher's best years are obviously behind him, but in a year where the Cowboys really, really need to emphasize "winning" the offseason, getting guys that could with a low-risk, high-reward probability are needed. And while his body may be wearing down, Hatcher fits that bill. He's familiar with the coaching staff and while he'd be coming back to Dallas to play in the 4-3, he played a 3-4 in Washington, Hatcher's role as the 1-technique or even a rotational defensive lineman piece may be too valuable for the Cowboys to pass up on.
Hatcher spent the first eight seasons of his career with the Cowboys before joining the Redskins in 2014. He had 20 tackles with two sacks and one forced fumble last season.
Cowboys Don't Want RGIII?
The Cowboys need a backup QB, but it might not be Robert Griffin III.
Contrary to what I'm hearing from a few analysts, I do not believe the Dallas #Cowboys are in play right now for Robert Griffin.

Griffin was officially cut today by the Redskins and several teams will be interested in him. However, the Cowboys might not be one of them. There have been a few reports that the Cowboys believe Griffin doesn't fit the offense, and that the team will target other QBs this offseason.
