The Dallas Cowboys have lost another player to suspension. DE Damontre Moore, a free agent pickup, has been suspended by the NFL for two games for violating the substance abuse policy.

The suspension actually dates back to an incident before Moore signed with the Cowboys.
FWIW, the suspension stems back to Moore's December DWI arrest when he was with Seattle, not something he's done since signing in Dallas.

He will continue to be able to practice and participate in preseason games. He's eligible to return to the active roster on Sept. 18th, one day after the Cowboys play the Broncos in Week 2.

Moore was a flier free agency pickup, battling to make the roster. Helman adds the Cowboys' front office wasn't surprised by the NFL's decision, but they still will be without another potential body at DE. David Irving was suspended for four games to open the year, leaving DeMarcus Lawrence, Charles Tapper, Benson Mayowa and rookie Taco Charlton as the top options.
Moore had played for the Giants, Dolphins, Raiders and Seahawks previously. He's just 24 years old and was a third round pick by the Giants in 2013. Moore has talent (he was an All-American at Texas A&M with 26.5 sacks in three years), but off-the-field and character issues have limited his NFL career and helped him to drop in the NFL Draft in the first place.
