The Dallas Cowboys have decided to release quarterback Kellen Moore, meaning that undrafted rookie Cooper Rush has won the job to be Dak Prescott's backup, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

#Cowboys will start Dak Prescott, a 4th rounder. They have Cooper Rush, undrafted, as his backup. Very nicely done by their personnel dept.

Rush was the biggest standout in the preseason for the Cowboys, posting a 135.9 QB rating while throwing six touchdown passes - both of which led the NFL.
“I feel confident in my ability and my team’s ability,” Rush said earlier this week. “But every day I’ve got to keep improving. I’ve got a long, long way to go. Every day, every snap, there’s something new I’m learning.”
Prescott also had high praise for Rush.
“He understands how you play this position from the neck up,” says Prescott. “And you don’t let when you were drafted, anything like that, affect you. I think he’s used that to motivate himself.”
Moore could be back with the Cowboys as a practice squad player if he clears waivers. Releasing him means Dallas will only carry two quarterbacks on the active roster.
