The Dallas Cowboys hold the No. 28 pick in the NFL Draft, and they are hoping to add several impact players - particularly on the defensive side of the ball - to help them take another step forward and compete for the Super Bowl again next year. Here are all the latest Cowboys news & rumors you need to know:
Cowboys host Taco Charlton on visit
Michigan defensive end Taco Charlton had his pre-draft visit with the Cowboys on Wednesday, and he is one of several defensive ends that Dallas is targeting in the draft, along with Tennessee's Derek Barnett and Wisconsin's T.J. Watt.
Charlton, who was a first-team All-Big Ten selection, racked up 40 tackles with 13.5 tackles for loss and 10 sacks last season.
Kevin King a target for Dallas
While Dallas is largely expected to go with a defensive lineman in the first round, they are also very interested in Washington cornerback Kevin King, according to Fansided's Gil Alcaraz IV:
One who seems to be getting a large amount of interest from the Cowboys and their fans is Kevin King. The former Washington star has quietly worked his way up draft boards during the pre-draft process. Despite the class’ plethora of quality cornerbacks, King stands a decent chance of hearing his name called on Day 1.
It just so happens Dallas could be the perfect landing spot at No. 28. They’ve obviously shown significant interest in King, and their draft position fits perfectly with his current stock. His intriguing mix of size, speed and athleticism would give the Cowboys a big boost on the boundary.

Early in the process, King seemed like a mid-round talent with some skills to build upon. Especially with the rash of injuries at the position, it appears he’s primed to hear his name called during the first two rounds. He may even get a call from Jones on April 27 delivering the good news.
King had 44 tackles with two interceptions and 13 pass breakups in 14 games last season.
Cowboys looking to trade up in first round
Though Dallas is currently evaluating prospects with the No. 28 pick in the draft, owner Jerry Jones say they are still looking to trade up and acquire a higher pick, according to Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
With the 28th pick in the upcoming 2017 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys won't be able to target an impact player as they did last year when they took running back Ezekiel Elliott with the fourth overall pick.
But owner Jerry Jones says it doesn't prevent the Cowboys from being aggressive in trying to move up or down to maximize the most out of a draft in which they must come away with several plug-in starters and day-one contributors.
"Near the bottom of the first, moving toward the top ... this sets up for a little potential trade action to try to gain some value or try to hit an opportunity," Jones said. "I have never looked at where we were when we started a draft and thought we are not going to get a very good player right there. The assumption being that is where you are going to be when you have to make a decision. All that plays out as it unfolds. There are some opportunities (for trades up or down).”
The Indianapolis Colts are among the teams that are looking to trade back in the draft.
