It has been a tumultuous season in Cowboys news, with part of that chaos coming from a perceived rift between star wide receiver Dez Bryant and the Dallas Cowboys' front office over Bryant's request for a contract extension.
However, per David Helman of DallasCowboys.com, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones says that extending Bryant is a huge priority and an agreement could very well prior to the 2014 NFL season:
“As we do with any great player in our organization who’s nearing the end of a contract, we start to look at it and see how we might structure something going forward,” Jones said in an interview with 1310 The Ticket on Friday. “I think that’s a possibility, yes.”
Bryant stated on Wednesday that he is deserving of a long-term commitment, especially with the numbers he has put up over the past few seasons. However, he's okay with letting his agent take care of that kind of talk for him:
“Well, I just feel like it goes for any player,” he stated.
“If you put the work in and if it’s deserving, it is what it is and I’m just going to sit back and wait and see what happens.”
