Tonight's game between the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants started off about as well as Cowboys fans could have hoped for. On the very first snap, Eli Manning dropped back and sent what was supposed to be a screen pass right into the waiting arms of DeMarcus Ware. The Cowboys took over at the Giants 15-yard line. Unfortunately, the Cowboys weren't able to find the end zone on the first series, and settled for a Dan Bailey field goal.
The next Giants possession looked much more cohesive at first. A 57-yard pass to Hakeem Nicks set the Giants up deep inside Cowboys territory, but Giants RB David Wilson fumbled (for the first time in 130 carries), and the Cowboys regained possession at their own 8.
The end result was a three-and-out, but the Cowboys wouldn't need to wait long to get the ball back. Another interception - just seven minutes into the game - gave Dallas the ball at the Cowboys 49, and this time it was Will Allen picking off Manning.
DeMarco Murray continued to pick up tough yardage, and the Cowboys drove into Giants territory, but it turned out the interception bug was contagious. Rookie WR Terrance Williams and Tony Romo were on completely different wavelengths, and a deflected pass intended for Williams fell right to Ryan Mundy, who ran it back 91 yards to the Cowboys 1-yard line.
The defense held strong, though. David Wilson was stuffed on first down, and on second down Eli Manning was brought down for a sack. Manning completed a third-down pass to Brandon Myers, but Myers was stopped short of the goal line and the Giants settled for a field goal.
At the end of one quarter, it's hard to tell if we're watching a football game or a blooper reel. The score is tied: Dallas 3, New York 3.
