In Cowboys rumors tonight, it seems the Dallas Cowboys and owner Jerry Jones want Johnny Manziel to fall to them at #16 -- but not necessarily because they plan on drafting the former Heisman Trophy winner.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network (via Dan Parr of NFL.com), (The Cowboys) would love to be on the clock with Johnny Manziel sitting there, but not to take him. Not to take him...just so they would have some ammunition for a potential trade for some team wanting to come up and grab Johnny Manziel."
There have been a wealth of rumors surrounding Jerry Jones' desire to bring Johnny Football to the Big D both as Tony Romo's successor and as a marketing tool. Having Manziel on the roster would further solidify the team's hold on Texas in many analysts' minds -- with the Houston Texans attempting to butt in on some of the team's market share throughout the state.
However, the Dallas Cowboys may be set at the quarterback position in their minds -- choosing to attack more pressing needs than worry about spending an early draft pick on a quarterback who may not see playing time for a couple of years or so.
