We've got a great picture for you Cowboys rumors fans today--can you imagine watching Dez Bryant line up across from 5-time NFL Pro Bowl wide receiver Steve Smith?
According to Joe Person, Carolina Panthers beat writer for the Charlotte Observer, the 12-year veteran wideout previously had the Dallas Cowboys on the top of his trade wishlist, and could look to the Cowboys as a newly minted free agent--
Steve Smith gave Panthers list of 5 teams as trade partners--Dallas, NE, Baltimore, San Diego, Tampa Bay, per source. http://t.co/OQC6IRnXgO

While the order of the teams in this tweet may not be necessarily indicative of any sort of importance, several analysts have already come out and said that the Dallas Cowboys might represent the best fit from a personality standpoint for the two-time First-Team NFL All-Pro.
The biggest obstacle standing in the way of a possible deal between Smith and the Cowboys would probably be finances--the Cowboys are current estimated to have about $8.5 million in cap space, and signing Steve Smith could take a significant portion--if not all--of that space.
In 2013, Steve Smith experienced a drop in production comparatively to his back-to-back 1,000+ receiving yard seasons in 2011 and 2012. He finished the regular season with 64 receptions for 745 yards and four touchdowns.
