The Dallas Cowboys are finally back in the playoffs for the first time since 2009, yet no one would blame linebacker Rolando McClain if he had other things on his mind.
On December 7, McClain’s younger brother, Myke, was arrested in their hometown of Decatur, Ala., and was charged with three counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and a first-degree charge of possession of marijuana.
On December 22, his $1.5 million home near Tuscaloosa, Ala., that had been for sale was completely destroyed by fire.
He also missed Dallas' regular season finale agains the Washington Redskins with the flu.
On top of all that, McClain is an unrestricted free agent this offseason after signing a one-year deal worth $700,000 with the Cowboys last year.
Despite the litany of issues facing him, McClain insists that he's focused on beating the Lions on Sunday.
“I know the best thing is just being on a team that cares for you as much as you care for them,” McClain said. “It’s not hard to go out and play for guys you know care for you the same as you care for them. I feel about as good as anybody else at this point in the season. It’s win or you go home, so suck it up and get ready to play. It’s a tough situation. This is your home, you know. It is what it is. You get your emotions together, get everything back together and put it towards football and just go out and try to play good ball. I’m focused on the Lions. Whatever happens, happens."
Dallas will take on Detroit Sunday afternoon at 4:40 p.m. ET on FOX.
