In breaking Cowboys news, it seems like we have a beginning of a huge staff shake-up in the Big D.
ESPN NFL Nation reporter Todd Archer took to Twitter a few minutes ago, breaking the news that the Dallas Cowboys have just demoted defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin to assistant head coach, while promoting defensive line coach Rod Marinelli to defensive coordinator.
Changes were expected after the Cowboys' defense finished 30th against the pass and 27th against the rush this year, but it seems as if Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones believes that changing the roles of the coaches currently on staff may be the answer for solving their defensive woes.
Coupled with the news that former Lions' offensive coordinator Scott Linehan has been brought in to call plays for the Dallas Cowboys, it is becoming apparent that Jerry Jones has built up quite the contingency plan from a coaching perspective in case the Cowboys decide to fire head coach Jason Garrett down the road.
Keeping Kiffin on staff rather than outright releasing him gives Jones plenty of moving pieces if that was to occur.
