With depth at running back a concern leading into tomorrow's final preseason game, Dallas will sign Phillip Tanner to handle the load against the Broncos. Tanner was recently released by Indianapolis and was a 2011 undrafted free agent of the Cowboys.
Contract negotiations with Dez Bryant are continuing, and reports are conflicted on whether the two sides are close to a deal. Bryant and owner Jerry Jones met privately Tuesday to continue discussions.
As the 'Boys whittle down the roster to 53, the team announced Tuesday that it will carry veteran defensive end Anthony Spencer on the roster. After having surgery to repair an injured left knee, it was unclear early in training camp whether Spencer would have to start the season on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.
