In Cowboys news today, one member of the Dallas Cowboys coaching staff believes that the Dallas Cowboys have a potential all-NFL running back on the roster.
Per Chris Wesseling of NFL.com, Dallas Cowboys running backs coach Gary Brown believes that starting running back DeMarco Murray qualifies as one of the NFL's best halfbacks:
"He's just scratched the surface," Brown stated, on the Cowboys' official website. "I think he's one of the better backs in the league -- he just has to go out and prove it now."
Wesseling cites Pro Football Focus to back up this claim, stating that Murray led all NFL running backs in yards per carry against base defenses in 2013 (5.7 ypc).
Although Murray is now a candidate for a contract extension going into the last year of his rookie contract, the Dallas Cowboys will most likely wait till the end of the season to address Murray's future with the Cowboys -- based solely on the Cowboys' current tough salary cap situation.
