As it turns out, the Cowboys won't be placing on Romo on Injured Reserve.
Original Story From 11/27/15 Is Below:
Another injury to QB Tony Romo is the nail in the coffin for the Dallas Cowboys' season. They needed a miracle after losing Romo for two months and failing to win a single game in that span, but the loss of Romo for the rest of the season means they won't be heading to the playoffs this season. It's a disappointing season for a team that had Super Bowl aspirations.
The Cowboys only have Matt Cassel on the active roster, as they cut Brandon Weeden after Romo returned. If Romo goes on injured reserve, or even if he's out for a few games, the Cowboys will need a backup QB. Jameill Showers is on the practice squad, but his future is as a "Slash" type athlete, not as a QB.
The trade deadline has come and gone, which means the Cowboys will have to sign someone off the street or from a team's practice squad. With that in mind, here are 5 players the Cowboys could sign to replace Tony Romo.
5. Tim Tebow, FA
Why not? No, seriously, why not sign Tebow? There's no real downside to this move. If he plays well, then the Cowboys have a new backup for when Romo returns. Plus, this just seems like a classic Jerry Jones move. If he sucks, then maybe we'll finally be able to move past Tebowmania. It's unlikely Dallas will add him, but it's worth mentioning.
4. Stephen Morris, Eagles
The Cowboys aren't going to add another veteran, because they might as well see if a younger QB can develop into a backup while they have the chance. Morris is better than Tebow (just ask the Eagles), and makes much more sense as a developmental QB. He's currently on the Eagles' practice squad, so the Cowboys could steal him. Morris is far from polished, but the former Jaguar has some potential.

3. Alex Tanney, Colts
Tanney is currently on the Colts' practice squad, but the Cowboys know him. He was on their practice squad in 2013, before the Browns stole him and put him on their active roster. He's bounced around with a variety of teams since then, before landing with the Colts this season. He doesn't have the upside of a few of the players on this list, but he should have a slightly better knowledge of the offense. That could help his chances.
2. Logan Thomas, Dolphins
Thomas has potential, although he's never made the most of it. That was the case at Virginia Tech, with the Arizona Cardinals and now with the Miami Dolphins. A former fourth rounder, Thomas is just 24 and on the Dolphins' practice squad. He drew comparisons to Cam Newton in the pre-draft process, but isn't anywhere near the caliber of player. However, he could be developed into a quality backup. It might be worth a shot.
1. Kellen Moore, Cowboys
Moore is currently on the Cowboys practice squad and he got the call to the main roster when Romo went down. Expect that to be the case again with Romo done for the year. He knows the offense and that helps his chances. With the Cowboys' season essentially over, they might let the young Moore get a start or two.
