The Dallas Cowboys have finally reached their breaking point with Joseph Randle and his antics, as the team cut Randle Tuesday afternoon. It was a rapid fall from grace for Randle, who was the starter for the Cowboys only a few weeks ago. However, Randle lost his starting job to Darren McFadden after Randle was injured. Randle didn't take the news well and reportedly left the team's facility after finding out. Randle has had legal troubles as well, as he is under investigation by the NFL for a domestic violence incident from February. Randle was also found with marijuana during that same incident and was also arrested for shoplifting in October of 2014. The Cowboys think football should not be Randle's priority.
Stephen Jones on Randle: Think football needs to be on the back burner. He needs to get his hands around some things.

Now that Randle is done with Dallas, the Cowboys have McFadden, Christine Michael and Rod Smith at running back. McFadden and Michael are a solid 1-2 punch, assuming they stay healthy. Smith, however, has done nothing in his NFL career and can be upgraded. The Cowboys claim they are happy with their options, but there here are several players on the waiver wire that would be an upgrade over Smith. Plus, Dallas has a roster spot to fill. With that in mind, here are five players the Cowboys could sign to replace Joseph Randle.
5. Ray Rice
Every time an NFL team has needed an RB this season, Rice's name pops up. I'm not a big fan of his, because I think he's washed up as a running back. In his last season with the Ravens, he put up a meager 3.1 yards per carry. He's a 28-year-old RB who hasn't played recently, so there is cause for concern. However, don't be surprised if his name comes up, especially among fans. Plus, the Cowboys have shown they are willling to overlook off-the-field issues if the player (Greg Hardy) has talent.
4. Bryce Brown
Brown is quick, shifty and worth a look. He was recently cut by the Buffalo Bills and had a workout with the Chiefs when Jamaal Charles went down. He has some potential, and is young enough to merit consideration beyond this season.
3. Ben Tate
Tate hasn't played in an NFL game since last season, but he still has some talent. He did get a workout with the Chiefs when Charles went down, so he's at least on the minds of NFL teams. There is no harm in bringing him for a workout and seeing what he has left.
2. Gus Johnson
Johnson was among the last cuts in the preseason and was on the Cowboys' practice squad for much of the season. He was cut a few weeks ago, and immediately landed on the Falcons' practice squad. Johnson showed potential in the preseason, and could be an upgrade over Smith. His knowledge of the offense is a big boost.
1. Montee Ball
Ball didn't make the Broncos' roster, but still has some talent. He has limited upside in the passing game, but offers value as a workhorse type back. He's worth brining in for a workout, and the Cowboys were reportedly interested in him earlier this season.
