The Dallas Cowboys are heading into a crucial offseason as they try to build on the momentum of this past season's dominance. As such, they need to re-sign some of their key free agents. Here are the three key Cowboys players who are free agents this offseason:
WR Terrance Williams
Williams took somewhat of a step back in 2016 after a strong 2015 campaign, catching 44 passes for a career-low 594 yards and four touchdowns. He has proved to be an excellent No. 2 receiver next to Dez Bryant, but when Bryant has been injured, he isn't a No. 1 option. Other teams around the league saw this, meaning there likely won't be in a bidding war for him. The Cowboys would be smart to re-sign him, but not over-spend to keep him in town.
CB Brandon Carr
Carr never really lived up to the expectations that came with the big contract he signed, but he has been a reliable player for the Cowboys in his five years with the team. There are rumors that the 30-year-old is contemplating retirement, but Dallas will likely lure him back with the idea of competing for a Super Bowl again with this team in 2017. Plus, Dallas should also be able to re-sign him for a relatively team-friendly deal given his age.
CB Morris Claiborne
Claiborne has never really lived up to expectations since being drafted in the first round, and has dealt with injuries throughout his career. He has never played a full 16 games in his career, and only played in seven this past year with 26 tackles and an interception. Dallas may be done with him, but they may also try to gamble on him again with a short, team-friendly contract - especially since the Cowboys are think in the secondary.
