Check out the latest Dallas Cowboys Report with Tom Downey. The Dallas Cowboys didn’t sign any notable safeties in free agency, but that can change. In a strangely slow safety market, the Cowboys are one team that still needs to add another safety to its roster. While the Cowboys go three deep at safety, they remain in the market for a free agent safety to help at least provide depth. So, Cowboys Report host Tom Downey breaks down 10 free agent safeties that the Dallas Cowboys Could Sign.
There is potential within the Cowboys safety depth chart, but it’s inconsistent and/or unproven. Jeff Heath has shown the potential of being a solid starter in the NFL, but he is a sometimes player. Sometimes he makes the plays, sometimes he gives it up. Young players Xavier Woods and Kavon Frazier are also battling for a starting safety spot, but remain mostly unproven. Woods might have the most potential of all of them and is in line to be a starting free safety after playing most of his snaps at nickel corner last year. Frazier is a box safety-type of player, but there are questions about his coverage ability. There’s little downside to the Cowboys adding a veteran, especially with several starting-caliber safeties on the free agent market.
