Crystal Palace Under-23s fell to three goals against Barnsley yesterday afternoon at the Tykes' Oakwell stadium.
Barnsley looked talented from kick off and the Eagles were frustrated to put wide or high several chances that, on another day, they may have rippled the net with.
After threatening Palace only tamely for the clash's opening 20 minutes, the hosts opened their account for the afternoon with a fine effort from Elliot Simoes. Having done well to win possession in the first place, Barnsley's No.9 picked up the ball from an awkward Alex Wollerton pass at close range before managing to work himself into sighting goal and unleashing the ball unhesitantly into Palace's bottom right corner.
