Crystal Palace Under-23s manager Richard Shaw led his side to a 4-0 victory over south London rivals Charlton Athletic today, fielding a lineup that included several first-team players.
His team was strengthened by the likes of Alexander Sørloth, who scored and assisted for the Eagles. Speaking on the effect of playing younger players alongside seasoned, more experienced footballers, Shaw explained just how beneficial it can be.
"It affects the players that play in a really good way," he said. "They need to understand the tempo of the game, the importance of keeping possession and the importance of defending.
