Nuno Espirito Santo says he would still take the knee even if he became the only person in English football to support the idea.
Since last June players and coaches across the game have been kneeling before matches as an anti-racism gesture, though Crystal Palace forward Wilfred Zaha has questioned its effectiveness while some clubs in the EFL – among them QPR, Middlesbrough and Brentford – have abandoned it amid continuing abuse of footballers, particularly on social media.
Yet Wolves boss Nuno – the only BAME manager in the top flight – launched a passionate defence of taking the knee and said it was unrealistic to expect immediate change.
