Extra police officers will be in the city for the Brighton & Hove Albion versus Crystal Palace match, police have announced.
A Public Space Protection Order will also be in place for the city centre, Sussex Police said.
"Fans attending were informed that alcohol outside of licensed premises, including from bottles and cans, can be seized and removed by officers," said the force.
Police said the increased presence was to ensure that everyone attending the football match had a "safe and enjoyable experience".
Some disruption to travel into the city is also expected, particularly near Brighton railway station.
