Andros Townsend has accused Health Secretary Matt Hancock of painting footballers as 'villains' and 'deflecting blame' after he said they should take a pay cut to help fight coronavirus.
Hancock said footballers should 'play their part' and make sacrifices like medical workers are doing by tackling the disease.
But the Crystal Palace winger said his job should be to focus on helping NHS workers rather than picking on 'easy targets'.
'Football is trying to do a lot of good,' he told talkSPORT.
