Crystal Palace were left with a feeling of what could have been after their 5-0 defeat by Newcastle United at St James' Park on Wednesday.
After Jacob Murphy's opener for the hosts, the Eagles were handed an opportunity to find their way back when Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope conceded a penalty after fouling Chris Richards in the box.
Eberechi Eze stepped up to take it but his tame penalty proved an easy stop for Pope before Newcastle doubled their advantage only two minutes later.
There was no stopping the Magpies from then on as goals from Harvey Barnes, Fabian Schar and Alexander Isak dealt a blow to Palace's bid to play in Europe.
