Crystal Palace have failed with a late approach for former Manchester City midfielder Gelson Fernandes, according to reports in Switzerland.
The 30-year-old is currently plying his trade for Rennes in France and he has made 20 appearances in all competitions this season.
His performances have reportedly attracted the interest of Crystal Palace and manager Sam Allardyce wants to bring him to Selhurst Park.
However the Eagles, according to Swiss newspaper Blick, have had their offer for Fernandes rejected by Rennes.
Crystal Palace could tempt the French club into selling the Switzerland international, but as of yet it is unknown whether a renewed bid will be made.
