Sussex Police have issued an apology to football fans, after claims of weapons being found in the aftermath of the Premier League clash between Brighton and Crystal Palace turned out to be incorrect.
The recent meeting between the two sides, on November 28, ended in a goalless stalemate but was overshadowed by scenes of fan violence.
A statement was released the following day by Sussex Police in the aftermath of the match, in which it was stated: 'a significant number of people attempted to enter the ground with pyrotechnics, knives and knuckledusters, which were found following efforts to gain access through fire exit doors in the south stand.
