Brighton missed the opportunity to close the gap on the top four with a 1-1 draw away at rivals Crystal Palace.
Solly March had given the visitors the lead on 63 minutes before James Tomkins' effort cancelled that out.
The result alleviates some of the pressure that had been building on Palace manager Patrick Vieira who will see it as a point gained in their battle to pull themselves further away from the drop.
