Eden Hazard and Yohan Cabaye are among the investors in a new US team which will be based in San Diego and start to play next year.
Chelsea star Hazard and Cabaye, who plays for Crystal Palace, will invest along with former Senegal international strikers Demba Ba and Moussa Sow and other local business executives.
The San Diego team will play in the NASL (North American Soccer League) the second tier of football in the US, which confirmed the announcement on Monday.
Hazard, 26, said: 'San Diego is a beautiful place and the love and passion the people have for soccer made this an easy choice for us.
