Mikel Arteta has echoed Bukayo Saka's call for greater protection from officials after Steven Gerrard told the Arsenal winger to toughen up.
Saka, 20, is an increasingly marked man and made his plea after some rough treatment in Arsenal's 1-0 win at Aston Villa before the international break.
Villa manager Gerrard responded by insisting Saka 'can't complain' about football's physical nature and that the screws in his hip and his 16 past operations are all part of having a career in the game.
Arsenal manager Arteta retorted: 'Bukayo said he was not going to complain, but he wanted some consistency in the refereeing.
